SuperTennis renews its broadcast infrastructure with Professional Show and Huawei DCS
From market uncertainty to innovation: Professional Show and Huawei design the new virtualization infrastructure for SuperTennis.
Thanks to the integration of Huawei DCS, FusionServer servers, and OceanStor Dorado storage, the broadcaster achieves top-of-the-range performance, business continuity with RPO=0, and hybrid cloud readiness.
The Challenge
Following recent changes in VMware's licensing policies globally, SuperTennis needed to renew its data center to ensure maximum stability for 24/7 broadcast streams, eliminating the risk of unpredictable costs and maintaining full compatibility with the Dalet software ecosystem. The broadcaster's primary goal was therefore to guarantee the highest operational stability and efficiency required to support daily broadcast workflows and high-definition content processing.
SuperTennis renews its broadcast infrastructure
As the System Integrator and long-standing technology partner of SuperTennis (with an active collaboration since 2016), Professional Show played the role of orchestrator and strategic guide for the entire infrastructural transformation:
- Strategic Assessment: Faced with licensing policy changes and uncertainties generated by Broadcom's acquisition of VMware in 2024, Professional Show analyzed market alternatives and guided SuperTennis and Dalet toward choosing the Huawei DCS Virtualization Suite.
- Full-Stack Ecosystem Design: Engineered an integrated, tailored solution based on Huawei technologies: FusionServer 1288H V7 servers, OceanStor Dorado 3000 V6 all-flash storage, and CloudEngine S5732-H network switches.
- Sizing and Migration: Managed the infrastructure sizing to host the entire Dalet virtual environment (41 virtual machines, 134 vCPUs, 478 GB vRAM, and an estimated 43,000 IOPS), while also ensuring container compatibility for the future Dalet Pyramid platform.
- Single Point of Contact and Centralized Support: Guaranteed business continuity (RPO=0) and a seamless migration for 24/7 broadcast services, positioning itself as the sole contact point for hardware, network, virtualization, and software integration support.
The Solution by Professional Show
As the broadcaster's System Integrator, Professional Show designed and implemented an On-Premise full-stack architecture based on the Huawei DCS suite:
- High-Density Computing: Huawei FusionServer 1288H V7 servers (1U/2 sockets) with 4th Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and DDR5 RAM.
- Ultra-Fast All-Flash Storage: Huawei OceanStor Dorado 3000 V6 featuring end-to-end NVMe architecture and ultra-low latency (0.05 ms), capable of handling heavy I/O workloads from databases and media nodes.
- High-Performance Networking: Huawei CloudEngine S5732-H switches with Multi-GE ports and high-speed uplinks.
- Enterprise Virtualization & Backup: The Huawei DCS suite with KVM hypervisor, storage-based Active-Active Disaster Recovery (RPO=0), and integrated eBackup software.
The Results
- Zero-Downtime Migration: Transfer of 41 virtual machines and the entire Dalet production core with minimal downtime and zero data loss.
- Cost Control: Adoption of a perpetual licensing model, safe from sudden price increases.
- Future-Ready Infrastructure: Native container support to facilitate the future transition to the cloud-native Dalet Pyramid platform (based on Kubernetes).
- A Single Technology Partner: Centralized support managed by Professional Show for the entire hardware and software stack.
