Mediaset new IP-VANs
After a long selection procedure, Professional Show was awarded the contract for the design, supply, and construction of two large 4K HDR OB-van with IP technology based on the SMPTE 2110 standard for one of the major Italian television broadcasters.
A system that offers all the advantages of the OB-Van, combined with those of a traditional TV direction, but with the high flexibility offered by IP technology, in terms of management, configuration and redefinition of the technology layout.
The trailers are 13.5 meters long with an extension on each side, one of which is double and leads to the walkable area of about 80 square meters.
Meeting the 4K HDR production requirements, the new OB van will be used for a wide range of sporting and entertainment events.

The great experience of Professional Show’s technicians, as well as the EVERTZ IP technology that has at its core the 3080IPX-128-25G Matrix, combined with the 570IPG-X19-25G gateway, has allowed a perfect integration of the baseband audio/video equipment within the workflow. The EVERTZ devices used are the IP Matrix, the Scorpion gateways, the IP Multiviewer, the DreamCatcher system for the super-slomo, as well as the signal distribution and processing equipment. The equipment management system is the MAGNUM by EVERTZ.
The presence video monitoring is made up of Sony 49” and 55” monitors, while the SONY oled monitors of the BVM series have been used for the high-quality and reference monitoring. The video mixer is a Grass Valley Kayenne 4ME with a second Karrera 2.5ME panel.
The audio mixers are the Solid State Logic System T-S500. The Intercom system consists of a dual RTS ODIN IP OMNEO central matrix, with 128 channels upgradable up to 1024, with 32 KP5032 panels, and a ROAMEO wireless intercom system with twenty TR1800 beltpacks.
AN ADDER TECHNOLOGY KVM matrix is installed in the Ob-van. The signal control devices are from LEADER, while TSL products have been selected for the audio monitoring.
The great reliability of the system is ensured by multiple backups and fail-over systems. The solid IP architecture designed by Professional Show supports hot-swap backup of key system components, ensuring fault tolerance and excellent automatic recovery capabilities.
The IP-VAN is designed to offer wide and comfortable operative areas to best serve the TV production. It grants large spaces, easily configurable according to the needs and including: the main production studio, a secondary production and audio studio, suited in separated but communicating rooms. A CCU Shaders section and a machine room, the latter having a dedicated soundproofed area with air conditioning.
This ensures a considerable improved comfort in work activities for the production staff.
